What Does It Feel Like?

Does your stomach clench with a pain you can't describe?

Do your eyes well up in tears that feel wrong?

Well, I'll tell you that when my mother passed

My world fell apart around me and I didn't even know

So caught up in the "What do I do nows?"

It felt like I was frozen in the snow

Day by day I slowly melted

I still cried, sure, but even then I tried not to

There were good days and bad days where I had to be strong

Dad said if we sticked together everything would be alright

And I would be alright

Now I try to stay in the positive

The Half Full, not Half Empty attitude

Because I was surely half now

And life would eventually be the same again

It's slow progress when you lose someone

And you're trying to get back on your feet

But time heals old gun wounds

And the hardship is only a storm that you'll get through

So if they ask, "What Does It Feel Like...?"

You lift your chin up higher

Tell them everything that kills you makes you feel alive

Because you are alive

And even death can't take away what it truly means to have life.

So treasure your emotions

Because in time they shall surely pass

Remember your loved one with a smile

And don't be bitter if you can

Since in the end, you'll probably end up seeing them again anyways
